Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR)

The Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) is a competitive application process that enables prospective and existing approved providers of aged care to apply for a range of new Australian Government funded aged care places and financial assistance in the form of a capital grant.

Applications for the 2016-17 ACAR opened on 19 September 2016 and closed on 28 October 2016.

On 23 February 2017, the Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Indigenous Health, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM MP, announced the allocation of 475 new STRC places through the 2016-17 ACAR. Minister Wyatt subsequently announced the allocation of 9,911 residential aged care places and $64 million in capital grants on 26 May 2017.
