Aged Care Sector Committee – Communique (4 December 2015)
The Aged Care Sector Committee (the Committee) held its eighth meeting on Friday 4 December 2015.
Mr David Tune, AO PSM opened the meeting and welcomed the Honourable Sussan Ley MP, Minister for Health, Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Sport. The Minister opened a discussion with the members on their vision and ideas for future reforms to aged care.
The Committee discussed a range of items, with a focus on the Aged Care Roadmap which has now been submitted to the Minister for consideration and progress of the Increasing Choice for Older Australians Measure.
The Committee was provided with an update on the progress of the Aged Care Financing Instrument (ACFI) monitoring, the Aged Care Financing Authority (ACFA) report to the Government on the Factors Influencing the Financial Performance of Rural and Remote Providers and the Red Tape Reduction Action Plan.
The Aged Care Commissioner, Ms Rae Lamb provided a presentation to the Committee outlining her new role as the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner from 1 January 2016.
The Department of Human Services also attended the meeting to provide an update to the Committee including the online claiming processes.
The Committee will next convene on 4 March 2016.
