Dear Aged Care Stakeholder

I am writing to advise of consultation opportunities for the new Aged Care Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Programme.

Background

In the 2015 Budget, the Australian Government announced the expansion of flexible care initiatives. A new form of restorative care, the STRC Programme, is being established to increase the care options available to older people, and improve their capacity to stay independent and living in their homes.

Consultation opportunities

The Department is seeking feedback on the STRC Programme Policy Consultation Paper. The paper puts forward the proposed key elements of the STRC Programme’s policy framework. Some sections propose options. In these sections, specific feedback on a preferred option is sought.

How to provide your feedback

The Policy Consultation paper is now available on the Department’s website at www.dss.gov.au/strc. Feedback will close at 10am, Monday 19 October 2015.

We encourage you to provide feedback by emailing STRC@dss.gov.au.

Aged Care Briefings

The Department is holding three workshops and a webinar on the new STRC Programme.

Information about the workshops and webinar, including locations, dates and the process to RSVP is available on the Department’s website at www.dss.gov.au/strc.

If you have any questions about the briefings, you are welcome to email STRC@dss.gov.au.
