The Hon Sussan Ley MP, Minister for Health, Minister for Aged Care, Minister for Sport and the Hon Ken Wyatt AM, MP, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, announced the results of the 2015 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) on 18 March 2016. High-level policy framework for the Short-Term Restorative Care Programme and feedback from consultation

The department conducted external consultation workshops in September and October 2015. Following on from these workshops, the high-level policy framework has been finalised and provides the policy approach for the design of the Short-Term Restorative Care Programme. The policy framework and feedback from the consultation workshop is now available.

Legislation for Increasing Choice in Home Care – Stage 1 has been tabled in Parliament

The Aged Care Legislation Amendment (Increasing Consumer Choice) Bill 2016 was introduced into Parliament on 11 February 2016. The Bill gives effect to the first stage of the home care reforms announced by the Government in the 2015-16 Budget.

ACAT transition commenced from 1 February 2016

From 1 February 2016, Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACATs) started using My Aged Care to conduct comprehensive assessments and referrals for residential care, transition care and home care packages. More information about the transition is available.
