Dear Aged Care Stakeholder

The Aged Care Pricing Commissioner has asked the Department of Social Services to provide the attached release to stakeholders:

Response to public consultation by the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner, and final Application Form and Application Guide for applying to the Commissioner for accommodation prices above the maximum amount determined by the Minister.

From 1 July 2014, providers who seek to charge accommodation payments above the maximum amount determined by the Minister must also apply to the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner (“the Commissioner”) for approval to charge the higher amount.

The Assistant Minister for Social Services has announced that this amount is $550,000, as a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (or its equivalent as a Daily Accommodation Payment).

The Aged Care Pricing Commissioner held public consultations on the draft Application Form for the purpose of seeking approval to charge the higher amount, and Application Guide in the period 16 December 2013 – 13 January 2014.

Following consideration of submissions, final versions of the Application Form and Application Guide have now been published and are available on the website of the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner or by following the link below:

The Aged Care Pricing Commissioner will take applications from 31 January 2014.

A response by the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner to issues raised during the consultation is attached.
