The Australian Government has launched a trial in South Australia on 10 October which aims to cut unnecessary red tape in the aged care sector.

The initiative was part of the Government’s commitment to reduce the cost of regulation by at least $1 billion.

The South Australian Innovation Hub trial was developed in consultation with a group of local providers with the aim to help aged care workers spend more time providing quality care in exchange for reduced regulation by Government.

The trial is designed to give greater autonomy to providers who consistently meet regulatory obligations. It will also build the voice of consumers into the design and delivery of care.
