Notification of Support for Home Care Package Providers Transitioning to CDC

Dear Aged Care Stakeholder,
From 1 July 2015, all home care packages must be delivered on a consumer directed care (CDC) basis.
The transition to CDC has required home care package providers to reorientate their organisation’s culture and service delivery models to consumer led care. This has resulted in additional costs to reskill their staff and to equip them with an understanding of the change in their roles in the new CDC environment.
The Department recognises the effect this has had on the workforce and will be supporting home care package providers with their transition to CDC by providing a contribution to each home care package provider based on the number of home care packages they have through a one off grant. The grant will be calculated on the basis of a flat rate of $274 per place for each home care package provider.
The grant will be sent to each home care package provider in the first quarter of the 2015-16 financial year as a contribution to the costs incurred in retraining and reskilling their workforce during the 2014-15 financial year.
The Department will contact you in July to organise the funding agreement.
