CHSP Growth Funding 2018
Growth funding is important to enable the sector to respond to the evolving needs to CHSP clients and to align with the growth in Australia's population.
On 2 October 2018, the Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM, MP announced $50 million per year in growth funding over 2 years would be offered to a select number of existing Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) service providers from 2018-19 with a strong record of delivery.
The department analysed current funding and population data and determined that funding for certain service types should be prioritised. These service types are:
- home maintenance
- home modifications
- domestic assistance
Recurrent funding was offered to existing eligible CHSP providers delivering these service types to increase service delivery.
Providers who accepted this funding are expected to expend it within the 2018-19 financial year. Payments distributed in January 2019.
Nationally 860 providers accepted this growth funding across all five identified service types. Funding of $32.2 million was allocated to domestic assistance: $2.7 million to meals: $8.5 million to transport: $3.6 million to home maintenance and $2.8 million to home modifications.
Home Modifications Growth Funding
On 17 January 2019, the Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM, MP announced that $15 million in funding will be offered to existing CHSP Home Modification providers.
These providers will be contacted directly by their Funding Arrangement Managers (FAMs) to be offered this funding.
This funding will allow existing home modifications providers to deliver changes to a client's home to increase or maintain the person's functional independence so that they can continue to live and move safely about the house. This includes supports such as hand rails and simple bathroom modifications.
This funding is in addition to the recent $50 million growth funding to CHSP providers to increase service delivery in identified areas of need, which includes Home Maintenance, Home Modifications, Meals, Transport and Domestic Assistance.
