The Survey of Aged Care Homes seeks information on accommodation payments and building activity during the previous financial year. Approved providers are required to complete the 2016 survey questionnaire for each service (distinct RACS ID number) that they owned on 30 June 2016.
The department gathers this information to prepare the annual Report on the Operation of the Aged Care Act 1997. The Minister is required by Section 63-2 of the Aged Care Act 1997 to include the information collected by the survey, and present this report to Parliament by 30 November each year. This information is only available to the department through the Survey of Aged Care Homes.
Approved providers have a responsibility to give the Minister information about accommodation bonds and charges that the Minister needs to prepare the annual report on the operation of the Act. An approved provider must comply with this request within the period specified below. This is specified in Part 3 of the Accountability Principles 1998 made under subsection 96-1 of the Act.
The Survey of Aged Care Homes gathers information on two topics that must be included in the report to Parliament:
- the amounts of accommodation payments charged
- the extent of building, upgrading and refurbishment by aged care services.
This information is only available to the department through the Survey of Aged Care Homes.
Providers can choose one of three ways to enter their survey responses: was available online.
