In the 2018-19 Budget, the Government announced that it will design and implement a new framework for streamlined consumer assessments for all aged care services, to be delivered by a new national assessment workforce.

The new streamlined assessment process will provide a better experience for senior Australians by ensuring timely access to the right services to meet their care needs.

Discussion paper

The Streamlined Consumer Assessment Model Discussion Paper was available for public consultation on the Consultation Hub from December 2018 to February 2019. Feedback was sought from the aged care sector and other interested parties on the design of the new assessment model.

The department has produced a report outlining key issues and feedback from the consultation.
