Aged Care Sector Committee – Communiqué – 16 June 2017

Mr David Tune, AO PSM, as Chair of the Aged Care Legislated Review, discussed with the Committee details of the Review and the timeline for the final report which will be completed by 1 August 2017. 

The Hon Ken Wyatt AM MP, Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Indigenous Health, thanked members for their contributions and acknowledged achievements over the past quarter. He highlighted a number of reports concerning the sector due in the coming months that the committee will need to consider. 

The Aged Care Industry Information Technology Council presented on their Technology Roadmap.

Members were provided an overview presentation on the options and recommendations to help inform the design of future residential aged care funding models. Members noted that the final report was released publically on 19 April 2017.

Ms Kate Carnell, Independent Chair of the Review of National Aged Care Quality Regulatory Processes, provided an overview of the review’s public consultation process, noting consultation will be managed through an online survey and targeted consultation with key stakeholders.  

The Department of Human Services attended the meeting and provided an update on their communications and engagements with the sector.

The next meeting is scheduled for 18 August 2017.
