Aged Care Sector Committee – Communiqué – 18 August 2017

The Department of Health provided members with an overview on the My Aged Care Accelerated Design program. The session looked at the consultation process that occurred within the aged care sector to identify and prioritise enhancements to My Aged Care. 

Information was also provided on the recent improvements to My Aged Care noting, the strengthening of information available to health professionals, providing greater support for clients, improving assessors’ ability to respond to a client’s change in circumstances and fast tracking a client’s access to services following transition care.

The Aged Care Financing Authority advised its fifth annual report on the Funding and Financing of the Aged Care Sector was provided to Government on 21 July 2017. The report provides a detailed analysis of the financing, funding and investment that underpins the Sector. Members noted that the report will be available online.

The Department of Human Services attended the meeting and provided an update on their work regarding information sharing between care recipients and providers.

Mr David Tune, AO PSM, noted that the Aged Care Legislative Review had been provided to the Minister and will be tabled by Mid-September 2017. 

The next meeting is scheduled for 1 December 2017.
