More Choice for a Longer Life Package
Announced as part of the 2018-19 Budget, the More Choice for a Longer Life Package aims to supports Australians to be better prepared - to live a healthy, independent, connected and safe life.
Measures within the Package
The Package contains 42 measures, which will be implemented across a range of government departments. This includes 22 measures which will be implemented by the Department of Health.

The Department of Health will oversee the implementation of all measures within the Package. An Inter-Departmental Committee, chaired by the Department of Health, has been established with representatives from the Departments of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Treasury, Finance, Attorney Generals, Education, Jobs and Small Business, Social Services, Human Services and Veterans Affairs’.

Implementation of the ageing and aged care measures will be informed by consultation, and where appropriate co-design, with relevant stakeholders.
While the consultation approach will differ for each measure, it will include engagement with:
- individual providers;
- peak bodies representing consumers and providers; and
- the Aged Care Sector Committee and other forums, such as the National Aged Care Alliance and its relevant advisory groups.
